Homemade Bath Bombs – A Beautiful Mess

Source: Homemade Bath Bombs – A Beautiful Mess

Homemade Bath Bombs, makes two large size or 3-4 “Easter Egg” size depending on your mold (you can easily double or triple)

4 oz. baking soda
2 oz. corn starch
2 oz. citric acid
2 oz. Epsom salt
1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons water
1 teaspoon essential oil
1 1/4 teaspoon oil (I like coconut or olive oil here)
1-2 drops food coloring (optional)

In a bowl combine the dry ingredients (the first four listed above). Whisk to remove any clumps, corn starch tends to be clumpy. In a small glass jar stir together the wet ingredients (the last four ingredients listed). If you’re using coconut oil, give it a quick melt in the microwave or stove top first so it will more easily combine with the other ingredients. Slowly pour the liquid mixture in with the dry mixture, whisking as you go. If you see the mixture fizz or foam, you may be adding the liquid too quickly. Once all the wet ingredients are combined with the dry, take a small amount in your hand and squeeze it together. It should stick together fairly well in one or two big chunks. If it’s still too powdery to hold together, just add a tiny bit more water and mix until it does hold together. You can really see this in the video tutorial—so watch that if you are unsure about how much it should stick together.

Breakfast Nachos

Living in Texas, there is almost nothing better than finding good Tex-Mex…especially if it can be made in the privacy of my own kitchen. Imagine this: Early on a Sunday morning, birds chirping outside, heat already radiating off the driveway, a soft breeze bringing in the scent of roses growing outside of my window, and the sound of eggs and bacon sizzling on the stove. That’s why I love these Breakfast Nachos. They are everything good about Texas, and summer, and exactly what I crave for me and my family on these hot, summer days. Enjoy!

What You Need To Make Breakfast Nachos:

  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • 1 red pepper, chopped
  • 1 cup kale, chopped
  • 1 cup Mexican shredded cheese
  • 2-3 fried eggs
  • 2-3 jalapeños, sliced
  • 2-3 fingerling potatoes
  • 3-4 flour tortillas
  • 8-10 cherry tomatoes
  • salt, to taste
  • black pepper, to taste
  • 5 Tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • Sour Cream (option)
  • Salsa (optional)

How To Make Breakfast Nachos:

Chop all veggies then set aside.

Slice fingerling potatoes (I prefer to slice potatoes to a 1/4″ – 1/2″ thickness),add Kosher salt and cracked black pepper then bake on a cookie sheet in 350 degree oven until finished, set aside.

In a hot skillet blister cherry tomatoes using 1 Tablespoon of olive oil, then set aside.

Wipe out skillet and using 1 Tablespoon of olive oil pan fry kale and set aside.

Cut flour tortillas into triangles and brown in a lightly oiled skillet using 1-2 Tablespoons of olive oil, set aside.

Add final tablespoon of olive oil in a hot skillet fry 2-3 eggs and set aside, sunny-side up.

Fry bacon until crispy then crumble, when cool enough to safely handle.

When all ingredients are prepared layer veggies, potatoes, eggs, bacon and cheese over cut triangles.

Add sour cream and serve with salsa. Enjoy!

Pro Tip: Want to turn this into a lunch treat that your family will rave about? Swap out the eggs for grilled chicken breast and the sour cream for ranch dressing. Don’t forget some sliced avocado! Ranch Chicken Nachos…Mmmm…

Cookie Monster Fudge Is a Fun Halloween Treat – Shared

Cookie Monster Fudge is such a fun recipe to make with your kids. It combines three dessert favorites (chocolate chip cookies, fudge and candy), and looks super cool if you add some edible Cookie Monster eyes to the top.

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups Wilton Blue Candy Melts
  • 14 oz sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup mini Oreos + more for topping
  • 1/2 cup broken up chocolate chips cookies + more for topping

Directions:

Line an 8×8 baking dish with foil.

Over low heat on the stove, stir together the candy melts and the sweetened condensed milk until melted and smooth.

Stir in the cookies pieces. Pour the fudge into the baking dish.

Press cookies into the top of the fudge. Add candy eyes at this point if desired for a Cookie Monster look. Allow to cool for 3-4 hours until completely set (you can speed this up by putting it in the refrigerator for 30 minutes).

This recipe is so entertaining to make for Halloween, or they could even work at a birthday party for a little one that loves Sesame Street. Even though these are a wacky color, the fudge is still nice and soft, and as delicious as you’d expect.

Cut into squares to serveThis fudge is great for anyone who loves Sesame Street!

This company makes me cry!

I have another wonderful report!! My order came in today and I had ordered an extra Mary Jane n Butter Lotion for my sister-in-law to try on her shoulder. A few months ago, she hurt her shoulder swinging a baseball bat at the park. She’s had shots, creams and pain relieving gels but has been in constant pain ever since. She came over this evening, (she just left) when I told her I had something that may help. She sat at my table and showed me how she couldn’t raise her arm or move it forward or back without pain. I gently rubbed the “Mary Jane n Butter” lotion into her shoulder and down to her elbow. We sat here looking at the website and the other products I had ordered & I showed her the items we’ve been using too. After just a few minutes, she said, “it feels good, it feels warm, it’s doing something!”, and within 10 minutes she could lift her arm. She put her hands on her hips and walked over to show my husband, (her brother), and said, “look at me! just look at me!” :’) I gave her the bottle and an extra BBB Anti Aging Serum and was hoarding, and told her to use it on her husbands knee that always gives him trouble. My sister-in-law runs the Meals on Wheels program in our community, and her co-workers know how much pain she’s been in and they’re going to get an earful tomorrow!! Nothing makes me happier than to help people. This is the perfect company for me, even though it makes me cry….tears of absolute and utter joy!

My house is not my house.

It belongs to my cats.

…. you smile in acknowledgment of this, because you know this to be truth.

My cats let me live here with them at their convenience. As long as I do their bidding, they are content to let me stay. Most daily activities are for their enjoyment, as they see it. Grocery shopping is for no more, than to bring home boxes and bags for their entertainment, and large bags of Purina Complete. Their playground equipment is replaced on a regular basis.

cats3

Their bowls, though half full, are actually empty. They sniff the nearly overflowing crumbs with disdain, then turn and look at me, as if to say, “do you want me to starve to death?”

cats17

Telly, the eldest, from atop his perch on the washing machine, looks down upon the masses beneath him, and I do mean “beneath him” because he considers himself “above it all.” He watches their silly games and crazy antics, and I think he secretly wants to play like a kitten too, but only occasionally does he join in the fun. His paw, involuntarily pats the air as he watches them tear under the dining room table, dodging the wooden legs and leaping up to claw the poor fake leather seats.

cats4

This is their habitat, not the great out-of-doors, but the in-of-doors. They watch the goings-on at the windows, throughout the house. Shredded mini-blinds are a reminder for their humans to leave space for them to see out. They sit on their blankets by the back window, their heads turning and dipping in perfect unison as the pigeons and doves eat from the dog’s dish. They watch them flutter down clumsily, their bellies bursting with Purina, to grab another morsel in their beak, waddle to the water bowl to dip it a few times (double dippers) before breaking it to bits and sometimes even swallowing it whole. I’m sure they wonder at the complacency of the two large white beasts in the backyard. Why they allow this behavior, by the “food with wings”, to continue is beyond them. I’m sure they’re thinking, “why is our food, eating their food?”

Nothing in this house is mine, no space is off limits, no activity allowed unless they supervise it. Visiting the “loo” alone is strictly forbidden unless they are in attendance.

They bathe where they wish, as long as they’re not caught by a human and whisked off the counter-tops.

If a cupboard door is inadvertently left ajar, it is obviously an invitation for close inspection of the contents.

The broom is only brought out of it’s hiding place for them to hone their “stalk & attack” skills. Laundry day is Play day. Piles of whites, darks and towels become the romper room. The dryer is a favorite, whether empty, or full of wet towels awaiting their turn to tumble. This device must always be thoroughly inspected prior to use so as to not tumble dry a cat.

cats9

Sleep is their favorite thing. Napping is done in sync, and wherever they please.

Even Peanut has learned to live with the indignity.

peeking peanut

There are occasional stand-offs, but mutual disdain is saved for the food dish. Rounds of tearing from the couch to the dining room table, and back again are frequent. Peanut bouncing off the cushions, leaping from the couch in great bounds, which seem impossible for such a small bundle of spunk. He has learned to co-exist with the herd, after all he is out-numbered.

If told to remove themselves from their chosen domain, they either laugh at you, ignore you, or look at you as if to say, “are you talkin’ to me?”

Telly just turns over and says, “rub my belly, you lowly human!”

Studies have shown cat owners live longer and healthier lives.

http://pets.thenest.com/people-own-cats-really-live-longer-10018.html

“cat owners seemed much less likely to die of heart attack and stroke”

“A stressful day can be turned around when you come home to the happy face-rubbing of your feline friend.”

As a cat owner, you’re less likely to be worried about high blood pressure”

“Cats do more than give you company — they can also keep the doctor away.”

I should, therefore, live forever!

Mary Jane….err Hemp

Mary Jane n Butter, that is!

This is really hard to type, because I have tears. Happy tears. It’s a little scary to put your name behind a product, one you’ve heard works, but haven’t seen first hand. I’ve put my name behind Skin by Nature. I know the products work. I’ve seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn’t tell you this if it weren’t true! I sold a bottle of Mary Jane n Butter lotion to a coworker, a teller, who spends most of the day on her feet, has bad knees and pain. Her knee had been swelling lately, and she has always tossed and turned at night, trying to get comfortable, always hurting. She rubbed the lotion into her knee last night. She slept all night. She woke with no pain, she poked around and no swelling. She told me this morning when I arrived at work. I am so thrilled with this news! I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to be able to say without a doubt, this product works!!
